CLARE Teamed Up with Hav A Sole
To Help Clients Kick Old Habits with New Shoes
LOS ANGELES, CA (DECEMBER 1, 2016) … CLARE Foundation teamed up with Hav A Sole to provide quality footwear for clients at the nonprofit treatment facility on Wednesday, November 23rd.
Rikki Mendias, Founder of Hav A Sole, spent part of his childhood living at the CLARE with his mother. One of his earliest memories was of a former client who bought him two new pairs of shoes after discovering that his were in poor condition and they couldn’t afford to replace them. Mendias always remembered her kindness and created Hav A Sole to pay that kindness forward.
“We’re so pleased that Rikki and his mother, Wendy, continue to give back to CLARE and set an incredible example to the clients,” said CLARE CEO, Dr. Lisa Steele. “Rikki’s experience at CLARE, and remembering the kindness from a former client, inspired him to give back to the community. We continue to grow a sense of community within CLARE and motivate our clients to make healthy choices and pay it forward on their recovery journey.”
Hav A Sole is an LA-based nonprofit that donates shoes to the homeless and at risk youth population. The organization has donated thousands of pairs of footwear through their partnership with major shoe retailers Nike and Saucony, and continues to work with other nonprofit organizations to reach out to help those in need.
